Weekly Announcements for April 9

*NEW on this week’s announcements:
(Full Band) Monday’s Pre-Concert will be held in the South (Main) Gym instead of the Auditorium. This venue was changed to give us more of an accurate simulation of our venue over at Lincoln High. 7:00pm start time with 6:45pm arrival for all band students. Regular concert black attire.
(Full Band) Woodwind Choir Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7:15 a.m.
(Full Band) The performance times for District Music Contest on April 16th are posted. We will soon have excusal times for knowing exactly what times you’ll be missing class, if any. If your group is after school, please let coaches, employers, etc. know of your schedule. You are excused from all sports and activities as this is our “State” contest.
(Full Band) Band Letter applications are available in the office and are due May 1st. They can also be found on the band website: www.lincolneastband.org in the Band Handbook.
(Blue Note) Blue Note Jazz Band will be performing for the Honors Convocation this Friday (4/13) in the Auditorium. Members will need to be at East by 6:30 a.m.. Blue Note will play from 6:40-7:00 a.m.
*Reminders from previous announcements:
(Full Band) Drumline clinics/placements are April 30-May 4 from 3:15-4:30 p.m. in the Band room. Color Guard clinics begin May 2-9, from 3:15-4:30 p.m. in the North Gym.
(Full Band) Drum Major clinics and tryouts will be on the following days. These are open to all current juniors and sophomores.
Clinics: April 12th, 18th, and 19th.
Tryouts on April 23rd. All events are 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the strings room.
(Full Band) Seniors: Band Booster Scholarship applications are available in the office. These are due in the office by May 1st.
(Jazz Bands) Upcoming Jazz Band Performances:
April 30th – Jazz Café
7:00 at East H.S. in the Cafeteria

NEXT BOOSTER PARENT MEETING-MAY 1ST
Due to scheduling conflicts, our May Booster Parent Meeting has been rescheduled for TUESDAY, MAY 1st at 7:00 p.m. (instead of May 3rd) in the Band Room. Everyone is welcome, including incoming 9th graders and their parents/guardians.We will vote for open board positions next year and discuss summer band activities.
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR DIRECTORS AND PRESIDENT’S GIFTS
Every year, we like to thank our band directors and band booster president for the vast amount of work and hours they put into make our board fantastic. At the final concert on May 15th, we would like to take a few moments to say “thank you” to these vital members of the band program and give them a small token of our appreciation. To be able to that, we ask for voluntary donations from our band families to cover the costs of these gifts.
If you are interested in making donations, you may:
*Hand-deliver your donation to our Treasurer or Vice President at the April 9th concert or May 1st meeting;
*Mail your donation to the school: Attention: Band Boosters, 1000 South 70th Street, Lincoln, NE 68510; or
*Drop off your donation in the main office and note Attention: Band Boosters on the memo line.
Donations are strictly voluntary and we are happy to accept any amount. We would like all donations in hand by Friday, May 11th so that we can present these gifts during the last concert.

DON’T FORGET TO TURN IN YOUR 2018-2019 BAND REGISTRATION PACKETS!!\
Band Registration Forms are due by April 30th. You may drop off the forms in the East Office or give them to Mr. Thorpe. You may also mail them in the envelope provided to you at the Parent Meeting on March 1st.
Incoming 9th graders: If you did not attend the March 1st meeting, the forms we need you to complete and return to us can be found on the Lincoln East Band website or you may request the forms by emailing the Band Booster Board at firstname.lastname@example.org.
BOARD POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR 2018-2019
Our Vice President and Secretary board positions will be open next year. We currently have candidates for these positions. If you would also like to be considered for one of these positions, please contact the Band Boosters at email@example.com. Voting will take place at our May 1st Booster meeting.
SENIOR PARENTS: DOES YOUR STUDENT HAVE BAND APPAREL TO DONATE BACK TO THE BAND?
The Band Boosters will accept donations of band apparel (blue polos, white t-shirts, black shorts, white gloves, black shoes, etc.), from our graduating seniors for use by students next year. Please bring your donated to the band room during our May 1st Booster meeting or the May 15th concert.
