**NEW on this week’s announcements:

(Full Band) Reminder that the band forms for next year are due today, April 30th. You may drop them in the band office anytime.

(Full Band) Percussion clinics start today and go through Friday, 3:15-4:30 p.m. in the band room.

(Full Band) Color Guard clinics will start Wednesday in the North Gym, 3:15-4:30 p.m. Tryouts will be next Wednesday, May 9th.

(Full Band) Jazz Cafe Monday night in the cafeteria, 7:00 p.m.

(Full Band) We need your help! Today after school, if you’re not doing anything,we need to start setting things up for Jazz Café. If you’re able to help, find Mr.Dozler or Mr. Kenney after school.

(Full Band) Band Letter applications and Senior Scholarship Applications are due Tuesday, May 1st

(Full Band) Woodwind Choir Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7:15 a.m.

(Full Band) There is new info up on the NMEA website regarding auditions for NEXT year’s All-State Band. Etudes and scales are are already available for download –you can start practicing now! The conductor, Patrick Sheridan is one of the most famous tubas players ever and is the founder of the “Breathing Gym techniques that East uses frequently. 2018-2019 Auditions

(Full Band) Our remaining Concert is Tuesday , May 15th at 6:00pm in the Auditorium. Attire will be NOT concert black, but dress clothes of your choosing.

(Full Band) Seniors: Band Booster Scholarship applications are available in the office. These are due in the office by May 1st.

Our May Booster Parent Meeting is tomorrow night, TUESDAY, MAY 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the Band Room.  Everyone is welcome, including incoming 9th graders and their parents/guardians.  We will vote for open board positions next year and discuss summer band activities.


 As of today, we have only received forms from about 100 students. Don’t forget to turn in YOUR forms!!!

Band Registration Forms are due TODAY!!! You may drop off the forms in the East Office or give them to Mr. Thorpe. You may also mail them in the envelope provided to you at the Parent Meeting on March 1st.

 Make sure you fill out the forms completely and include your check(s)!!!!

 Incoming 9th graders: If you did not attend the March 1st meeting, the forms we need you to complete and return to us can be found on the Lincoln East Band website or you may request the forms by emailing the Band Booster Board at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com.


YOU may wonder why YOUR band contribution is so important. The contributions we ask for from our band families each year are the largest source of funds (about 90%) from which we pay for the Lincoln East Band program.  The rest of the funds to pay for the program come from various fundraisers throughout the year.

As you may recall from our Parent Meeting on March 1st, total expenses for the 2018-2019 year are forecasted to be over $27,000.  This does not include the funds we need for new frontline equipment.  This is only operating expenses for the band program including the production costs of the marching band show, travel expenses to Harvest of Harmony, equipment and uniforms, senior gifts and scholarships, and other operating/administrative expenses.

For the 2018-2019 year, we need a MINIMUM 98% participation rate in order to meet our budget. To illustrate how important YOUR contribution is, you should know that:

*It takes 99 families contributing $100 each to meet our band production costs.
*It takes 119 families contributing $100 each to meet our transportation costs.
*It takes 54 families contributing $100 each to meet the remainder of our costs.

If EACH band family makes a contribution of $100 or more, we will almost meet our budget for next year, with the remainder of costs covered by fundraisers. This means YOU can’t sit back and expect the other band families to fund the band program.  YOUR contribution is needed as well.

As of today, we have only received band forms and contributions from a little over 100 families. That is only about 1/3 of you.  We need the remaining 2/3 of our families to turn in their forms and contribute towards the band expenses.

We have an outstanding, award-winning and legendary band program.  Our reputation of being one of the best marching bands in the state extends from border to border. We don’t want to compromise any of the important aspects of our program.  Without YOUR contribution, we will be unable to pay for the costs of the music for next year’s show.  Without music, we won’t have a show to choreograph.  Without a band show, there will be no band contests and no awards.  No, our band program isn’t all about the accolades and awards.  It is also about providing a quality music education to students when funding to the arts is being cut at the state and federal levels all the time.  Funding from parents will ensure that our students will continue to receive a music education at a level they have come to expect.  This is why YOUR contribution is so important to this program.

 We understand that many of our families may have tight budgets and perhaps can’t make their contribution in one payment. For those families, please contact the Band Boosters at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com to discuss a payment plan.  We will work with you to develop a payment plan that works with your budget.

To make your contribution, please complete the Parent Contribution Form included in the Band Form packets distributed to students or you can find the form on our website at lincolneastband.org.

Every year, we like to thank our band directors and band booster president for the vast amount of work and hours they put into make our board fantastic. At the final concert on May 15th, we would like to take a few moments to say “thank you” to these vital members of the band program and give them a small token of our appreciation. To be able to that, we ask for voluntary donations from our band families to cover the costs of these gifts.

If you are interested in making donations, you may:

*Hand-deliver your donation to our Treasurer or Vice President at the or May 1st meeting;

*Mail your donation to the school: Attention: Band Boosters, 1000 South 70th Street, Lincoln, NE 68510; or

*Drop off your donation in the main office and note Attention: Band Boosters on the memo line.

Donations are strictly voluntary and we are happy to accept any amount. We would like all donations in hand by Friday, May 11th so that we can present these gifts during the last concert.

ATTENTION!!!!!   THE SPRING CONCERT IS MAY 15TH AT 6:00 P.M.  Make sure your calendars are correct!!


The Band Boosters will accept donations of band apparel (blue polos, white t-shirts, black shorts, white gloves, black shoes, etc.), from our graduating seniors for use by students next year. Please bring your donations to the band room during our May 1st Booster meeting or the May 15th concert.
