BOOSTER BLITZ (Monday, August 20th)

The Booster Blitz, the annual celebration of fall sports, will be held on Monday, August 20th in the south parking lot (outside of the band room) from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.  The Athletic Boosters have lined up Valentino’s, Chick-Fil-A, NuVibe and Schwans. The band, Color Guard, cheerleaders and the Apollonaires will also perform during the event.

The Band Boosters will be selling pop and desserts.  We are looking for some volunteers to help clean up/tear down and man the sales tables. Our first football game is approaching fast (August 23rd) and WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS to:

*Move and set up equipment (“Pit Crew”);

*Assist student with uniforms (“Uniform Assistants”);

*Keep the band hydrated (“Water Volunteers”).

*Sit with the 9th graders during half-time for the safety and security of the students (“Band Wrangers”)

Feel free to sign up for as many performances as you wish. 


Recently, you received an email from Mr. Thorpe about the state of our budget.  We hope that you took the time to read his message and will consider making your contribution if you have not done so already.  Your $100 contribution is vitally important to our program—it is what funds the band program throughout the year. We use the family contributions to pay for transportation and truck rental to Harvest of Harmony in Grand Island, music copyright fees, music arranging fees, drill writing, clinician fees, drum heads, equipment purchases and other administrative expenses throughout the year, including expenses for Color Guard, Jazz Band, Pep Band and other instrumental band groups.

We would like to ask those of you that have not contributed yet, to please do so.  We know that some of our band families may be facing financial hardships, especially now that school is back in session.  Even if you can send $10 a month throughout the school year, that would be a tremendous help.

You may deliver payment in three different ways:

1) Mail to East:  1000 S. 70th St., 68510;

2) Drop by East main office and it will get to the booster mailbox; or

3) Have your student drop in the booster mailbox in the band office.

Either of the three is fine, but please NO CASH!!!!  Please make sure your check indicates it is a contribution for the band.

*Note, directors will never see a list of who has and hasn’t paid their contribution. 

As Mr. Thorpe said on the night of the Exhibition, this is a special place–Lincoln, East High School, and the East Band. We are truly blessed to be a part of such a great community and we look forward to another outstanding year with this program and these students.

If you ordered a car decal or marching band apparel for your student (polos, shorts, white t-shirt), those orders will be available at the Booster Blitz.

**If you ordered parent band/spirit gear from Uprise in the last week, those orders MAY be available at the Booster Blitz. We will confirm as soon as we have more information.


Show your Spartan pride this year by purchasing a custom-made sign for your yard!!! Signs will be made of durable plastic and will feature your student’s name on it. Signs are just $15/sign. Order forms will be available at the Booster Blitz on August 20th.


We’ve had a number of parents who have had issues loading pictures on to the Band’s FB page.  Many of our parents have also requested copies of pictures taken by other parents or the Executive Board.  To address these inquiries, the Executive Board’s Communications Director has created a “shared” East Band Boosters site on Shutterfly.

Pictures taken by the Executive Board will be downloaded to this shared site. Any of our band families, including parents and students can upload and download pictures here as well. Those pictures may then be used on Facebook, Instagram or our other social media sites. Our band families may also purchase any of the pictures through Shutterfly.

The shared site will be updated after every performance or special event throughout the year.  Right now, you can find pictures from Band Camp and the Tailgate Party on the site.

If you wish to be added to the shared East Band Boosters Shutterfly site so that you may review, upload/download or purchase pictures of the band from Shutterfly, please email the Executive Board at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com and we will add you to the contact list.
