*NEW on this week’s announcements:

(Full Band) Remaining Concert Dates: Apr. 8: Pre-Contest Concert, Apr. 15:
District Music Contest, and May 14: Spring Band Concert and Awards Night.

PEP BAND UPDATE:  The Girls’ District games will be Thursday and Friday at 5:30 p.m., with report times of 5:00 p.m. both nights.  The Friday game only happens if we win Thursday’s game.  The Boys’ District games will be played Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (report time of 5:30) and if they win, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (report time of 6:00).  See screenshots of brackets below. Pep Band Shirts and jeans are the attire. These games do NOT count as the requirements for lettering but may be used as make-up games if you missed some during the season. If teams win 2 games they will be playing at PBA. We will get out procedures for how that will work soon.

info for next year, as well as band camp dates and performance schedule.

(Full Band) Mark your calendars! There is a fundraiser at Yogurtini (233 N 48th St Suite J) on Monday, March 18th from 5-10 p.m.

(Full Band) Auditions for the LPS Music Festival are due this Friday, February

Reminders from previous announcements:

(Horn Players) The Husker Horn Studio is hosting “Horn Boot Camp” at UNL on
Tuesday, April 2nd . This will run from 1:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and will cover a wide variety of
topics, including playing as a horn section, basic horn maintenance, resources every
horn player should know about, and a masterclass where students can perform their
District solo and get feedback. The final hour of Horn Boot Camp will be playing
along with the Husker Horn Choir! Horn Boot Camp is completely free, and you can
quickly register HERE . Registration will close on March 25th.

(Jazz Bands) If you are in the Wed/Fri prep jazz and haven’t yet, please e-mail Ms.
Urbigkit back! Check your student Gmail account.

(Jazz Bands) Here is a list of all jazz performances this spring:
March 23rd – “Spring Swing” at Northeast H.S. – All jazz bands
April 25th/26th – UNC Greeley Jazz Festival – Blue Note only
May 6th – “Jazz Café” at Lincoln East (cafeteria) – All jazz bands

(Full Band) We are looking for rock bands, cover artists, a cappella groups, solos,
and other musical acts to perform at the LPS Music Festival! This event is
sponsored by Tri-M, but you do NOT have to be in Tri-M to perform. Any LPS
student with a music act may submit a video audition at this link. Videos must
showcase your act and be less than 5 minutes in length. Audition submissions
due February 22nd. You will be notified by March 3rd with the final set list! See
Ms. Shively or Katherine Schmit for more details. Check out the LPS Music

(Full Band) The LPS Tri-M Chapters are collaborating to host a district-wide Music
Festival! The Festival will host performances from students around LPS with
special guest performances from other UNL and community groups. If you have a
band, small group, solo, or other talent show-esque musical performance, we
want YOU to perform in the show! Save the date for March 30th at North Star High
School! All proceeds from the event will go to district Tri-M Chapters, and a
portion will be donated to the Yankee Hill Education Center music department.

(Full Band) Mark your calendars: The 2019 Band Informational Meeting for
Parents AND Students is Thursday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. This
meeting is MANDATORY.

You’ve heard us say again and again that band is family.  That’s because our students and their parents lean on one another, support each other, step up to help when help is needed and are there for each other.  The Band needs your help, and we hope you will be there for us!  We need your support more than ever.  HOW CAN YOU HELP?  There are several options for you to help the band:

Join the Booster Board for the 2019-2020 Year–we are looking for a Vice President (a two year commitment) and a Communications Director (to start taking over the current Director’s duties next year)

Volunteer–We are looking for several Committee Chairs (August Tailgate Party, Booster Blitz, Water Coordinator, Scholarship Committee, Gift Wrapping, Amazon Wish List Coordinator, etc.).  We also need volunteers to help out during our upcoming fundraisers, special events and football games.

Monetarily–Without financial support from our band families, we don’t have a band program.  We need your support now more than ever!

  • We NEED parents to pay their annual parent contribution of $100 or more (this is the money we use to                       support the band’s operations)–if you haven’t paid your family contribution yet, please do so now!!!  We will set up a payment plan for you if necessary.
  • Attend/Participate in fundraisers and special events–Tailgate Party, Booster Blitz, Craft Fair, Gift Wrapping, Baker ‘s Chocolate, Marcus Theater Tickets, The Mill Coffee, Tea, Cocoa and Cider, etc.
  • Write a check–we will always and gladly accept donations
  • Support the Lincoln East Band Amazon Wish List 

What is an Amazon Wish List? It is a registry service on Amazon.com that allows people and groups to create a wish list and share it online so others may select gifts on that list. The East band directors have put together a list of the instruments and equipment they need the most.  The list will be updated periodically as items are purchased and new items are added to the wish list.

The Lincoln East Tri-M Chapter will be participating in the LPS Music Contest on March 30th.  Each Tri-M Chapter at the high schools in Lincoln will be providing food during the festival.  The East Tri-M Chapter has been asked to provide desserts.  We are seeking dessert donations from our band parents.  Your band student does not have to be a Tri-M member for you to donate.  

These desserts can be store-bought or homemade, but should be labeled if they are homemade and have some form of nuts in them for allergy reasons.  The donations can be delivered to Ms. Shively in the East Bandroom any time during the week of March 25-29.  If you can help us out by donating a dessert, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F044CAEAC2DA7FB6-dessert




WHAT CAN YOU DO to support the band?  Please come and eat at one of Lincoln’s favorite Mexican restaurants while supporting the Lincoln East Band!!!  East Night at Taco Inn will be on Monday, March 4th from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the 70th and O location.  





The Lincoln East Tri-M Chapter will hold a fundraiser on Monday, March 18th from 5-10 p.m. at Yogurtini at 48th & O.  This fundraiser will support the Tri-M Music Festival coming up at the end of March.  You don’t have to be a member of Tri-M to come to the fundraiser.  Everyone is welcome to eat some yummy froyo while supporting this great music event!!  



What could be more fun that jumping on trampolines for hours on end???  If you’ve been thinking about checking out Urban Air Trampoline Park, now is your chance!!!  Please bring your family for a fun night at Urban Air (2840 South 70th Street) on Tuesday, March 19th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. This is a fundraiser to support the Lincoln East Band!  The cost to attend is just $20/pp for TWO HOURS (not including socks)!!  It is sure to be a blast!!!  Be sure to mention the Lincoln East Fundraiser when purchasing your tickets!!





We are working on the year-end band video which will be shown at the last concert in May.  If your child is a senior, and was in band for the entire 2018-2019 school year, we would like to feature their picture in the video.  HOW CAN YOU HELP??  If you have a senior picture of your child that we may use, please forward it to the Booster Board at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com by April 26th.  Prior to sending the picture to us, we ask that you contact the photographer who took the picture to obtain any necessary releases so that we may use the photo.  If we do not receive a senior photo from you, we will use your student’s band photo from this year instead.



HOW CAN YOU HELP?? We are looking for pictures from ALL of the bands (marching, concert, jazz, pep, show choir, musical pit, etc.) as well as our special events (Tailgate, Booster Blitz, football games, basketball games, competitions, Craft Fair, giftwrapping, band camp, etc.) to add to the video.  If you have pictures that we can use, please email the Booster Board at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com by April 26th, and we will send you an invite to upload those pictures to the band’s Shutterfly shared account.  Thanks!!!
