(Full Band) Please sign up for a bus with the sign up genius for Grand Island by Wednesday, Oct. 3rd. Link is in the Harvest of Harmony itinerary on the classroom and Synergy. All grades of Percussion, Tubas, Color Guard, plus Drum Majors DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP.

(Full Band) 9th Grade band will need to make arrangements to come in this Tuesday and Thursday (Oct. 2 and 4) morning at 7:30 a.m. so we can rehearse the parade block for Grand Island.

(Full Band) Nebraska Wesleyan Honor Band details are now available. See attachment for full details.

(Full Band) Tri-M is taking students to go see “Spamalot” at the Lied on November 2nd. You do not have to be in Tri-M to go to the musical. Deadline to sign up is this Thursday, Oct. 4th. The link to sign up is here:  https://goo.gl/forms/5kTJP7pXQZQTp4rD2

(Full Band) Picture make-ups will be Tuesday, October 2nd during PLC time in the strings room (147). This mainly involves color guard and others that may have missed this during band camp.

(Full Band) There will be a mandatory meeting for ALL ACTIVITIES next Tuesday, October 9th during PLC time in the Auditorium. All Band students must be there! If you are in any activity such as Band, Choir, Orchestra, Speech, etc. this is a required meeting. Attendance will be taken.

(Full Band) U.S. Marine Band will be performing at the Lied Tuesday, October 2nd. This is one of the best concert bands in the world. We will have a guest speaker Tuesday morning at 8am from this group.

(Full Band) Congratulations to Megan Kolbe for being selected for the Concordia University Musical Arts Day.

(10-12 Band) Leadership meeting every Tuesday morning at 7:15 a.m. Trombones & Baritone have treats this week. Tubas & Percussion are next week.

(Full Band) Wayne St. College Festival of Honor Bands will be held on Saturday, January 26th. You will find ALL audition instructions and materials at www.wsc.edu/honor-band . Please follow the Audition Instructions found on the website when making and submitting auditions.

PHOTO MAKE UP DAY – Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2nd

The photo make up day for outstanding photos products/photo buttons orders for Color Guard and any band members who did not have their pictures taken on August 3rd, has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd at 2:15 in ROOM 147 (please note the location change).  Your student will receive a pass to attend the photo session from 2:15-3:00.

WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS FOR BAND APPRECIATION NIGHT THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5TH!!!

*Move and set up equipment (“Pit Crew”)—we could use 5 more volunteers;

*Assist student with uniforms (“Uniform Assistants”)—we need 5 more volunteers;

*Keep the band hydrated (“Water Volunteers”)—we need 2 volunteers to fill water coolers before the game and 2 to refill at half-time, clean them out and put away after the game;

*Monitor 9th graders (“Band Wranglers”)we need 5 volunteers to sit with the 9th graders at half-time to monitor behavior and safety;

*Assist with Color Guard (“Color Guard Assistants”)—we need 4 volunteers to help with hair and make up.

If you can help out, we would appreciate it so much!!! This is a big event this week as we will have 8th graders and alumni sitting in with the band and we will be celebrating our seniors.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HARVEST OF HARMONY THIS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6TH

We are in need of several volunteer for Harvest of Harmony this Saturday:

*Bus Chaperones—we need 7 more parents to ride the buses to and from Grand Island as chaperones/assistants throughout the day;

*Pit Crew–we could use 8 more volunteers;

*Color Guard Assistants–we need 2 volunteers to help with hair and make up.

Harvest of Harmony is an “all hands on deck” event.  It is a long day, but it is a lot of fun and it’s a great way to get to know our band students and other parents!

BAND’S FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE HAS BEEN SET UP FOR HARVEST OF HARMONY

We have set up a Harvest of Harmony Event on the band’s Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1016739265175431/

This will be a great resource throughout the day on Saturday for our band families who will be traveling with us to Grand Island to stay connected.  We will update the event page with information about locations where you can watch the parade, where to gather for lunch, etc.  We will also have pictures and perhaps even “live” events with our students and families!!

 Fall blockbuster movies are coming your way!  Get prepared by placing an order for discounted Marcus Movie Theater tickets and gift cards.  Not only easy, your purchase helps the band!!  Orders are due to Chair Paula Williams by the 10th of each month.

IT’S FALL—THE PERFECT TIME TO ORDER HOT DRINKS FROM THE MILL

The Mill and the Boosters are teaming up with a coffee/tea/hot chocolate/cider fundraiser! Everyone knows someone who likes coffee! Students will make $5.50 per coffee bag sold and $5 per tea bag sold. Money earned will go towards the band.  Monthly orders will be accepted at the monthly booster meetings.  Orders will then be ready within about a week.  Visit the Band’s website at www.lincolneastband.org.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Fundraisers” to access the order forms.  Please contact Miki Valenta at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com if you have any questions.

LOOKING TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE BAND?

Consider Joining the Booster Board for the 2019-2020 Year

The Booster Board is seeking new board leadership next year to replace outgoing members.  We are looking for:

Vice President (2-year commitment with accession to President in the second year) – assists with fundraisers/identification of project chairs, assumes duties of President when necessary, assists with board operations and other duties as assigned

Treasurer – keeps all financial records of the Band Boosters, disburses all monies as required, prepares monthly reports and other duties as assigned

Communications Director/Media – responsible for distributing communications to the parents from band directors and Booster Board, prepares flyers and materials for fundraisers, prepares sign-ups for volunteer opportunities, maintains band website and coordinates with social media band leaders about posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. and other duties as assigned

Serving as a board member is a time commitment, but it is one of the most rewarding experiences you will have as a parent at East.  Not only will you meet and develop fantastic friendships, you will also have many opportunities to work closely with our band students and their families, and provide valuable input about the band program and activities in the future.
